Posting An Event on an SMU Calendar
Anyone can request an event to be posted to SMU events calendars if the event is sponsored by, hosted by, or in collaboration with an SMU school, college, department, or student organization. Although the event should be of general public interest, it may be limited to only a campus group, such as students, alumni, faculty, staff, parents. Events may be listed that appeal to either internal or external audiences, or both. The calendar manager for the requested calendar heading will determine if the event request meets these guidelines.
The events calendar is not a scheduling mechanism, and an event’s presence on the calendar has no relationship to the approval process for the space and the time. Events should be added to the calendar only after reservations for time and space have been made.
To request that an event be listed, select the calendar that is most appropriate for your event, and e-mail your request to the calendar manager for that heading. The calendar headings and managers are listed below. If you are unsure which heading best fits, you may submit the event to the “All Events” category by emailing your request to the University Calendar Coordinator at calendar@smu.edu. Please provide the following with your request:
- Title of event.
- Start date and end date, and start and end time.
- Location, including building name and room number.
- Sponsoring department or organization.
- Contact name, e-mail and phone number.
- Brief description.
The following calendar managers are responsible for the accuracy and content of the events listed in their respective calendars. To post an event in a specific category, please contact the area manager:
